Em-pa-thy. The ability to step into the shoes of another person, aiming to understand their feelings and perspectives, and to use that understanding to guide our actions. That’s the core philosophy behind Empathy Pilates.

Having previously worked as a currency trader in the UK, Paul, owner of Empathy Pilates, had constant neck pain and had tried multiple treatments to no avail. In his frustration he studied Pilates in order to try and address the pain. The rest, as they say, is history.

Teaching Pilates for 20 years, Paul arrived from the UK in 2002.  He holds the Industry’s highest qualifications, is a senior member of the Australian Pilates Method Association and was a serving Council Member from 2012-2016.

Paul is also 1 of only 3 Approved Course Deliverers in Victoria, training teachers on behalf of their Registered Training Organisation (APMAET).

If practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance throughout the whole body. With emphasis on alignment and breathing, Pilates develops a strong core and improves coordination and balance.

Individual plans are tailored based on each person’s needs.  Initial consultation is one on one with a teacher before starting your Pilates either in a small group session or continuing on privately. With a maximum of only 4 people per group session you receive individual attention with focus always being on technique. Depending on your program, Pilates can work on a number of things such as posture, rehabilitating an injury or building core strength.

Established in the area for over 15 years, Paul has built a solid reputation as one of the Industry’s most revered teachers. Being from England, Paul doesn’t mind the chilly Melbourne winter and enjoys spending time with wife Emily and their 4 children when not in the studio.
